Summer School - Standing Groups Guidelines
A. PROPOSALS
Proposals to establish summer schools should be up to about 6 pages long and should include the following:
- A description of the policies and purposes of the Summer School,
including the themes/subjects to be covered and the type/s of students it is aimed at.
- A description of the structure of the summer school - how long it will be,
what form the teaching will take, etc.
- A description of the organisation and administrative arrangement.
- Where a grant is being requested, the application should also include
a detailed budget, showing both income and expenditure.
B. REQUIREMENTS FOR ECPR ENDORSEMENT AND SUPPORT
- The summer school should be open to all ECPR members.
- The summer school must be international in nature and should try to attract teachers and students from throughout Europe.
- There must be a firm commitment for the 3 years that the grant may cover to organise the summer school.
C. GRANTS
- Applications for grants to assist with administrative costs associated with organising summer schools are
available to standing groups that have fulfilled the requirements in B. above.
- The total number of grants that can be given in any one year is six,
with priority given to new or recently established summer schools. Any standing group
considering applying for ECPR support for a summer school should contact the Central
Services staff in the first instance to establish which year there are funding slots available.
- Applications for grants should cover three summer schools. The grant may cover either three consecutive years
(followed by a three year period when the summer school would not be eligible for funding) or three alternate years.
- A maximum of £4,000 per year can be granted. This maximum amount is based on the summer school lasting for two weeks.
If summer schools are shorter than this, the grant is paid on a pro rata basis.
- The annual grant would be dependent on receipt of a proper report and evidence that the summer school is running well.
- The ECPR's auditors will require documentation to support expenditure
- Applications for grant renewals can only be considered if full
documentation has been received in connection with the previous/current grant awarded.
D. MOBILITY FUND
- All participants from ECPR member institutions who attend summer schools supported with these grants may
apply for help towards travel and accommodation from the ECPR's mobility fund
- Further information, together with an on-line application form, can be found elsewhere on this website.
HELP FOR ORGANISERS
The ECPR would like to build up a portfolio for summer school organisers, with useful information,
advice on best practices and details of any experience which might be helpful to others.
If you can contribute to this portfolio, would you please contact:
