Welcome from the local organiser
Dear visitors,
It´s a pleasure for our department to host the second ECPR graduate conference at our campus in Bellaterra.
Our University will be 40 years old at that time and the Faculty of Political Science 20 years old, so we have two celebrations to share with all you.
Spanish Political Science has developed strongly since the Franco Dictatorship and this conference is an opportunity for our graduate students to discuss with other colleagues from all across Europe on a wide range of topics. In addition, there will be two academic roundtables, on Regionalism, and Gender and Politics in Contemporary Spain.
The social program of the Conference will provide opportunities to enjoy the campus environment and meet fellow graduate students.
It´s also a good opportunity to visit Barcelona (30 minutes by train) and discover why it is one of the most exciting cities in Europe.
Joaquim M. Molins, Professor of Political Science (UAB)
The ECPR is pleased to announce the second Graduate Conference will take place at the Universitat Auṭnoma
de Barcelona from 25-27 August 2008. All panels, round tables and registration will be located at the Universitat
Auṭnoma de Barcelona, and campus accommodation will be available. This is an excellent opportunity for graduate
students to come together from all over Europe to share their work and experience by presenting papers or by
simply observing, and as with all ECPR conferences, there will be a number of social events.
Like the ECPRs general conference, the conference format will consist of open and themed panels,
with the topics covered being as broad as possible. There will also be a number of roundtables
of invited speakers on such issues as getting published and doctoral training.
The academic convenors of the conference are Eileen Connolly (Dublin City University) and Joaquim Molins
(Universitat Auṭnoma de Barcelona), members of the ECPR's Executive Committee and Jennifer Sands (University of Leeds)
and Robin Pettitt (University of Manchester), members of the ECPR's Graduate Network.
Further information will be available on this website during the next few months. General enquiries
may be made to ecpr@essex.ac.uk and regular announcements will also be sent out in the ECPR's email bulletin.
